 Vinoba Bhave,

known as 'Walking Saint', had alone acquired more than 1.5 million acres of agricultural land and distributed it among the poor.

He later wrote, "I peacefully demanded the land, as a son does to his father. "
He had a huge contribution to the Bhoodan movement, but few are aware that he had convinced 17 dreaded robbers of Chambal to quit violence.
He said there - "This is the land where brave robbers were born. They are not treated like the rest because they just have different ways. I think they are better than the bandits sitting in Delhi. "
Urban people have hardened their hearts and minds, they only think about their own selfishness, and they will never change. But these people can change themselves.
I wish they would understand my words and surrender. The solution is in surrender, not in violence. Only non-violence can end the problem of robbery from society. "
In 1958 Vinoba Bhave was awarded the first Ramon Magsaysay Award for 'promoting a new kind of social revolution in India'.
In 1983 he was awarded India's highest civil award, #BharatRatna.
