That's why Malviji made Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan the Vice Chancellor of BHU

It's about the year 1939 The health of Pandit Madanmohan Malviya, the founder of Kashi Hindu University, was not supporting. He went to Calcutta for treatment. During the same time, the idea of retiring from university works came to his mind. But they couldn't retire until they find a suitable person to handle the university. He was now looking for someone who has patriotism and is an international level scholar as well as knowledge of university functioning. Apart from all this, he also needed to have the ability to fundraising so that he could run the university smoothly.

He saw all these qualities in Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. Proposing Radhakrishnan to take over the office of Vice Chancellor of BHU, he said that all the facilities he will get as a professor at the University of Calcutta will be provided to him. Radhakrishnan accepted Malviya ji's proposal but said, since BHU is going through economic crisis, he will not take any remuneration in exchange for the work. Yes, he will partially take over the Vice Chancellor because of taking over Oxford and University of Calcutta. After his acceptance, Malviya ji resigned from the post of Vice Chancellor on 20 August 1939

Radhakrishnan's visit to Oxford was reduced due to the First World War. That's why he took full responsibility of the VC. He raised an extra amount of Rs 36 thousand in the first year for this university, which was hardly able to raise expenses on the strength of hard work and dedication and reached Rs 36 lakh the next year. Radhakrishnan's qualification as Vice Chancellor and Madanmohan Malviya's understanding as an employer is still exemplary today.
